The 1st Exploratio SPRING DAY LILO RACE

The First Exploratio Spring Day Lilo Race will be held this Wednesday.

We are meeting at the Climbing Wall at LC de Villiers at 7:30am to depart for Bronkies.

Anyone welcome! Not just Explo members.

You are only allowed a Lilo or Tube or a corresponding floatation device. No kayaks or canoes.

Bonus points (head start) for dressing up. My Lilo is getting some serious flames!

Bring a braaier, your cozzie and climbing gear.

Roc Rally 2011

Yeah! Roc Rally is happening on Friday 23 - 25 September.

Roc Rally 2011

This is an annual rock climbing endurance event that involves a team of two, climbing one hard route on the first day, then racing between the cliff faces around Waterval Boven and doing as many climbs as you can in 8 hours on the second day.

Its only R250 pp for a student/MCSA member. R300 otherwise. It includes your T-shirt, 2 suppers and breakfast rolls on Saturday.

New Temporary Access to Bronkies

There are new temporary access arrangements for Bronkies. The Dept of Water Affairs are repairing the gravel road leading up to the dam wall.

When approaching from the Pretoria side, instead of using the usual gravel road turn-off continue driving for about 500m and take the next road to the right. There is a Dept of Water Affairs and Forestry sign.

Eagle Mountain - Fight the Feeling

Beginners Weekend at Eagle Mountain

The Second Beginners Weekend will be held at Eagle Mountain near Harrismith in the Free State on the weekend of 2 to 4 September.

There is excellent bouldering and sport climbing, including multi-pitch climbs. The rock is generally the same type as Swinburne, just a bit more solid.

The accommodation goes for R40 per night. That means R80 for the weekend. Its about 320km to Harrismith. More details around the cost will be posted later.

We'll be using own transport so start organising amungst other laanies for a lift.

Joey Kinder in SA

Awesome! Joey Kinder is coming to SA to sample the ultimate in climbing in the country.

The SANCF has organised a welcoming party for him at OR Tambo on 30 Jun. Then they take the Gautrain to Sandton. Maybe to go buildering???

Then from 1 - 9 Jul its Boven. He'll be thrown at the hardest red lines there, like Rodan, Jabberwocky and Satan's Temple and some open projects.

They then move to KZN up until 22 Jun. CHeck him out at the Wave Cave.

They then move to ROCKLANDS for some of the best Bouldering in the world and of course, ROCK STOCK 2011 on 23 June.

Trad Climbing - 14 May

The MCSA has moved their Kranzberg hike to Tonquani this weekend. If someone is keen on some Trad climbing in the Magaliesberg.
