-- OPENING HIKE --

The Explo Opening Hike is next weekend! If you haven't booked your spot, do so ASAP. Write your details on the Notice board at the Climbing Wall on LC de Villiers. Anyone is welcome!

We're leaving on Sat 25 Feb at 6:30 from the Wall. We'll be back on Sunday night.

It's costs R200 which includes permit fees, transport and food. You have to provide everything else, which includes a backpack, tent, sleeping bag and drinks. If you need anything, write it on the sign up for at the wall or contact Dickie.

If you haven't heard about the BANFF film, come check it out. Anyone with any sense of adventure in them has to see this.

On Tuesday we are going to watch the BANFF Mountain Film Festival at Brooklyn Mall. The show starts at 20:15. Come and have a drink or something at Mugg & Bean at 7pm before the movie.

Clubnights are ending on Wednesday night, but our last event is the LILO RACE on 26 Nov at Bronkies. See the website and facebook for more details.

--BEGINNERS WEEKEND--

We are leaving on Friday for Eagle Mountain. Anyone is still welcome to join us.

We are meeting at the Wall on Wednesday to discuss how we're getting there.

Its only R80 for two nights' accommodation. Transport works out at around R160 pp if you're 4 in a car. Check out the facebook event if you need transport.

You need to bring a tent as we're camping, your own food and drinks and remember warm clothes. It's nice and warm up here in Pta, but in can get freezing at Harrismith.

We are choosing a new Committee on Wednesday at the Wall at 19h30. It will only take half an hour or so.

Remember, Committee members get free membership and a Committee Jacket sponsored by First Ascent.

On Wednesday 24 Aug at 19h30 at the Wall we are electing a new committee for next year. If you have some ideas and cool projects for Explo, join the committee. Even if you don't want to be on the committee, come to the election and vote for someone you think will make it happen.

The slideshow evening is happening on Friday 29 Jul. Everything starts at 18h00 so bring your own drinks and meat to braai. We'll have a massive bonfire going.

Entry is R5 for your slideshow or picture. The winner takes the pool.

  -- Trad climbing this weekend --

The MCSA has moved their Kranzberg hike to Tonquani this weekend. If someone is keen on some Trad climbing in the Magaliesberg. If you are joining us, please let Dickie know at dirk.talma@gmail.com

  -- MCSA Club nights --

The MCSA uses the wall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm. They are asking Explo members to please use the wall outside of these times. They are contributing financially towards Explo so please respect their wishes.

Explo is sending a team of climbers down to UCT for the USSA (University Sports SA) Rock Climbing Championships.

Its happening on Friday 24th June and Saturday 25th June. UCT might shift the dates a week or two later, because some Universities are writing exams at the time. I will inform you asap.

The Lead Climbing will be at CityRock on the Friday and the Bouldering at the UCT Sports Centre.

Accommodation: You can either stay in the hostels or with hosts or you can camp. Explo will be paying your entry fee and TuksSport will help with the transport.
