How to Join?

It's very simple to join the awesome TUKS adventure club, Exploratio. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Get psyched for an awesome time.
  2. Join us at our own climbing wall at LC de Villiers Sport Centre at Mondays or Wednesdays from 19:00 to 21:00.
  3. Fill in an indemnity form if you haven't already. Standard practice :)
  4. Climb away. We have highly skilled climbers there to assist you. Your first 2 climbs are free, then we would like it very much if you officially join. (If you miss us there come join us at Cafe Livingstones afterwards for our legendary "bier-uur")
  5. If you find the climbing or socials totally addictive, join by going to the help desk at the LC de Villiers Sport Centre (next to the climbing wall), during office hours. (8:00 - 18:00). Ask to join Exploratio and fill in the application and indemnity form. (Please note that this isn't just for students and everyone is welcome)
  6. Pay a mere R350 for the entire year and get your membership card and free TUKS t-shirt.
  7. You can even pay your membership with your student account. Ask them to please bill it on your student account

Please note the following:

  • If you are unable to join at the Sport Center during office hours, then please contact Samantha (samizo.p@gmail.com) to make an alternative arrangement.
  • Please have your membership card with you whenever you are at the wall, even on club evenings. Security may request that you present it and you will not be allowed to climb without it. 
  • You need to complete the climbing competency assessment if you would like to climb outside of club times or use the club gear.
  • If you have no prior climbing experience and want to know what it's all about or if you have been climbing for years and need a place to train and meet fellow climbers, Exploratio is the perfect place for you.
