Welcome to the Rock Climbing and Hiking Club of the University of Pretoria

We have club evenings twice a week where beginners and old hands alike can climb on the wall at the L.C. de Villiers Sport Stadium. All necessary gear will be provided.

Club evenings are every Monday and Wednesday 19h00 to 21h00 at the wall.

NB! Make sure that you bring your membership card to the wall. Non-members who are interested in climbing at the wall are allowed two free climbs before they have to buy a membership. Only Tuks Exploratio members with valid 2010 membership cards are allowed to climb at the wall. If you have not yet joined, please do so at the sport centre information desk during office hours. Members must bring their cards to the wall.

Members who want to climb outside of club times at the wall are required to pass a BASIC climbing skills assessment

Five Ten Dragon Climbing Shoes

When I first got them…Weeeee…It was painful! But spending some time in then on some projects in Rocklands they did become –a little- more comfortable.
Horrendously steep sport routes and boulder problems don't stand a chance against the precision and power of the Five Ten Dragons. Five Ten gave these fire-breathing lace-ups extremely down-turned toes and soft midsoles that allow you to wrap your toes around holds which are indistinguishable to other shoes. You can stand on your imagination…and the Dragons will stick.

The next evolutionary step of the beloved spork.

Everyone loves the spork! I remember my first spork encounter like yesterday. It was a warm summers night after a hard day of climbing. One thing on my mind, food. I fired up my pocket Rocket to get some water boiling for some good old 2min noodles. Overwhelmed by intense hunger I couldn't wait to start eating, if I can only find my spoon.. or fork.. or anything.. Thank you Murphy, I left my knife, spoon and fork at home.
